The Focus Of 2011 Is Miracles And Magic

We’re a little over a month into a new year and a new decade. Does it feel any different to you yet? Where is the magic? Have the miracles started happening for you yet? Recently I had a conversation with a dear friend and we were comparing 2011 to 2010, as people are want to do when a new years is still fresh. She described 2010 as tumultuous, and I heartily agreed. I am so happy the year is over! And she was told 2011 would be a year of miracles and magic. When she asked what that meant, she was told, “Magic is making something appear from nothing. Miracles are the process of making the magic happen so that it can be seen even if it is not believed at first.” I am definitely ready for some magic, and the miracles are already happening.

So far lots of new things have come my way, and most of them have been good! Maybe I am just more open to seeing what has been there all along, but there are suddenly lots of new ideas and new opportunities, and even renewed energy and focus a course in miracles. Wow, who could ask for more?
I started practicing self hypnosis on myself. After all, it worked for my clients. What I learned was exactly what I had been telling them – your brain believes whatever you tell it. So tell it how you want it to be rather than how it was or even how it is.

As soon as I pretty much took myself by the hand and said enough, the year started feeling different to me a course in miracles lessons. Actually, I’m thinking better, not just different. I was listening to Michael Losier’s Power of Attraction and he has ideas and suggestions that really resonated with me. One was, “Allowing is the absence of negative vibrations.” That set me to thinking, what am I blocking and what am I attracting? Are those negative vibrations slithering in unbidden?

This is the year (at least so far) for values to come up; the value of friendship and self nurturing, just to name a couple things. Then there is of course the value of family and charity and commitment.

Have you made your Declarations? I don’t mean just the usual New Year’s Resolution list. Goodness, I just recycle the same one year after year, and what good is that? They are so esoteric, like be a better person, lose weight, get more rest, things like that. This year so far I have Declared (and that is different than Resolved) that life doesn’t need to be so hard, that I will actually do what I say I want to do (I started a dance class last night in spite of snow predictions) instead of waiting for the right time, and I’ll spend more quality time with family and friends. This is the year to do what I want to do.

I figure if I spend more quality time doing what I want to do I will be more efficient at doing the things I don’t want to do because my reward is that I can have more quality time to do what I do want to do. See the cycle? No more of the cycle down, down, down. I am only going to use those “down” words when I am putting someone into a hypnotic trance. You see, even those words are useful in the right context.

I switched the cable, phone and internet to all new carriers last week. Everything went smoothly, too. Now I have a bag of cords that no longer serve any purpose. You should see the place under my desk and behind the TV armoire – you can actually see the floor for a change instead of a pile of cords that multiply at night in the dark. It felt so good to get rid of them that I started on my closet and – are you sitting down? – on my filing. This is a fabulous feeling. Start the new year with clean energy and clean space. Just take one corner at a time, or one flat surface, set a timer for no more than 30 minutes, then have at it. When you know it is only for 30 minutes, you will be amazed at how willing you are to start a project. Notice I didn’t say you will finish, only that your commitment is 30 minutes. And in no time, you will feel so much better. We know it is easier to keep it up than it is to face a huge pile of filing, or a closet full of clothes you no longer need or want, so just start. Let that be your theme for at least the beginning of the year, just start. Then see where it goes. There is magic afoot and there are miracles in the air! Just be open – that’s all I am suggesting. You deserve to be filled up with wonderful miracles, and I’m here to tell you they are out there just waiting for some place to light. Be that Place.
